Organizing unions with an iron fist?

Just what we need here in MI right now. From the Ivory tower: "Unions see good shot at winning change in federal labor laws." Winning? Isn't it more like they bought this chance? I mean, really, don't they (the unions) spend a huge percentage of membership dues on political advocacy for the democrat party? (dues, by the way, that must be paid by workers who are republicans and independents as well?) So let's not parse words. They bought this shot. They didn't win it in some sort of political lottery.

And how is this to help Michigan? Didn't Toyota (and Nissan for that matter) want to build a plant in Flint, Michigan after the Buick plants were closed but were not allowed to by the UAW? Do the unions not yet have enough power and influence? Is it that rosy in this state that we need thugs with lead pipes in hand going around 'persuading' employees to sign a union card?
